How do I compare time periods?

Did this week's change actually move the numbers? Comparison shows you.

Set the time period

At the top of Insights, choose the period you want to look at — the last 7 days, the last 30 days, this month, a custom range. The numbers on the page update to that range.

Compare against the previous period

Enable the compare option to see the same metrics for the period right before the one you're looking at. Each number shows up next to its previous-period equivalent, with the change between them.

For example, looking at "this week" with comparison enabled shows you this week's metrics next to last week's, so you can see whether anything moved.

When comparison is useful

Comparison earns its keep when:

  • You've made a change to the funnel — a new headline, a tightened question, an updated call to action — and want to know whether it worked

  • You want to spot a trend — week over week or month over month, are you improving or sliding?

  • You launched a new traffic source — compare the week after launch to the week before

When comparison can mislead you

Two cases to watch:

  • Low traffic. If you only get a handful of visitors per week, the week-over-week numbers will swing wildly from random noise, not from actual changes. Wait for more data before drawing conclusions.

  • Multiple variables. If you changed the headline and the qualification questions in the same week, you can see the combined effect but can't attribute the change to one or the other. Change one thing at a time when you can.

Where to go next

  • Where can I see how my funnel is performing?

  • How do I find where leads drop off?
