Adding a Custom Domain

How to host Ambit pages from your own domain

Updated over a year ago

Adding a custom domain to your workspace lets you host pages from any domain that you own.

Getting A Custom Domain

If you don't have a custom domain already, there are plenty of options for purchasing one.

You can check out GoDaddy, NameCheap, or BlueHost as a starting point.

A typical unused domain runs around $10-$20/year.

Connecting Your Domain to Ambit

You can add a custom domain to your workspace by going to Settings β†’ Domains β†’ Custom domain and toggling the switch on the right.

Once you enter in your domain name, you should see a prompt that says "Verification required."

Verifying Your Domain

To verify your domain, you'll need to add a couple DNS records on the platform you used to purchase your domain.

The DNS records you need to add will be listed directly in the Settings page under where it says "Verification required."

Below are links to tutorials for many popular domain providers.

(Click on a provider to expand the list of tutorials.)

If you don't see your provider listed here, you can do a quick search for "adding dns records <provider name>" and you should be able to find a relevant tutorial.

Finalizing Your Domain in Ambit

Once you've added the DNS records, navigate back to Settings β†’ Domains β†’ Custom domain and click Check status.

This will tell Ambit to check your records. If the records were added successfully, your domain should be now be marked with "Verified domain."

Depending on your domain provider, the records may take some time to update. Please allow up to 48 hours for your domain to be verified.

If your domain still isn't verified after 48 hours since you added the records, you can reach out to support by clicking the question mark icon at the bottom-left of the homepage.
