Track the data you actually need for your business, beyond the basics Ambit captures by default.
A custom field is a piece of information you add to every contact in your workspace. Ambit comes with the standard fields (name, email, phone), and custom fields let you capture anything specific to how you sell.
Create a custom field
Go to Fields in your workspace.
Choose New field.
Set the field's name — what it'll be called in the contacts list and on contact detail pages.
Set the field's key — a short identifier that the form blocks use to reference the field. Use lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores. No spaces.
Save.
The field is now available across your workspace. You can use it in any form block in any funnel, and you can fill it in manually on any contact's detail page.
Common custom fields for service businesses
Business name — for B2B services
Industry
Annual revenue or company size — used heavily in qualification
Referral source — how they heard about you
Stage in their journey — pre-launch, scaling, etc.
The shorter and more specific your custom field list, the more useful it'll be. Five focused fields beat fifteen vague ones.
Editing or deleting a field
You can rename a field at any time without affecting the data already saved. Deleting a field removes it from every contact in your workspace — be sure before you do.
