What form field types are available?

Today, form fields collect text. For other answers, use the dedicated blocks.

When you build a form in Ambit, the fields you add collect text — anything a visitor can type. That covers most of what you need on a funnel form: name, email, business name, role, the open-ended "tell me about your situation" prompt.

Validation on text fields

A text field will accept whatever the visitor types. If you want to make sure the input matches a particular shape (an email address, for example), the right approach is to label the field clearly and mark it required. Most visitors fill in what's expected when the prompt is clear.

When you need more than text

For answers that aren't free-form text, use the dedicated blocks instead of a form field:

  • Multiple choice block — for questions where the answer is one (or several) options from a fixed list. See How do I add a multiple choice question?.

  • Phone block — for collecting a phone number with a country dial code selector. See How do I collect a valid phone number?.

Using the right block for the right kind of answer means the visitor gets a better experience, and the data you collect is cleaner.

More field types are coming

We're working on additional field types. When they ship, they'll appear in the form block automatically.
